  • Regulations & Requirements: Traffic laws, hours of service, and human trafficking prevention.
  • Vehicle Knowledge: Truck and trailer anatomy, air brake system.
  • Inspections: Pre-trip, enroute, post-trip, and roadside inspections.
  • Driving Skills: Shifting, operating transmissions, backing, parking, docking, and handling extreme driving conditions (night, mountain, skid control, emergencies).
  • Road Safety: Speed and space management, distracted driving, hazard perception, railroad crossings, accident and fire procedures.
  • Cargo & Hazmat: Cargo handling, documentation, and hazardous materials.
  • Specialized Vehicles: Driving combination, double/triple trailers, and tank vehicles.
  • Driver Wellness: Health and wellness, substance restrictions (alcohol, drugs).
2. Behind the Wheel Training
  • Backing & Parking: Straight line, alley dock (45° and 90°), offset backing (left/right), parallel parking (blind/sight side).
  • Vehicle Control: Coupling/uncoupling, left/right turns, lane changes, highway entry/exit, shifting.
  • Communication & Awareness: Signaling, visual search, speed and space management, hazard perception.
  • Safety Procedures: Hours of service adherence, emergency procedures, skid control, jackknife recovery, handling extreme conditions.
